Mabel Wong

Mabel Wong is a versatile musician based in Kuala Lumpur, known for her roles as a violinist, educator, adjudicator, and examiner. As an active performer, she is a member of the Anjung Trio, alongside violist Dr. Andrew Filmer and pianist Robin Lee. Mabel has performed with various orchestras and ensembles across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, including Ensemble Virama, Tutan Festival Orchestra Selangor Symphony Orchestra, Kamerata Kuala Lumpur, and Kuala Lumpur City Opera. She recently completed a concert tour in Germany with the Bachfest Malaysia group, representing Malaysia and Southeast Asia in performing Bach’s cantatas internationally.

Mabel’s passion for music extends beyond performance; she is also dedicated to sharing her pedagogical expertise through various workshops and conferences. She has presented at events such as the JB Classical Music Festival, the SEA Music Academy’s Children’s Music Festival, the virtual Malaysian Music Education Conference, ABRSM Music Teachers Conference, and ABRSM’s Violin Seminars in Malaysia and Singapore.

Mabel holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Otago and a Master of Music Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her academic journey was marked by numerous awards and accolades, including the Sydney Achievers International Scholarship and the Alice Kirscher Prize. Despite specializing in violin performance, she also achieved Honours for the Licentiate Certificate in Piano Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
